Although studying physics in secondary school was a painful experience, I loved learning about the different laws, especially Newton’s Laws. They were so relevant and applicable. And the law of gravitational attraction was one of those laws we were taught.
We simplified the law a lot and came to regard gravity as the force that would always pull us back to the ground. So for instance, we cannot fly, no matter how much we want to, because gravity always brings us back to earth. However, you can defeat gravity as by altering certain dynamics, you can fly with an airplane.
Habits seem to operate like the law of gravity. You see, no matter how much we desire to succeed, if we self-sabotage ourselves with bad habits, we will always be pulled down to earth. We will never finish a book if we have the habit of wandering away to do less mundane things. We will never lose weight if we do not discipline ourselves and do what will required to get the desired results. January 2023 will end in a few days and we will not be fitter or smarter than we were a few months ago, even though we prayed and fasted for the change. In order to defeat those ingrained habits, just like you would with the law of gravity, we need to go the extra mile and break free of our limitations. The choice always remains yours.
